About Sue

Sue is an FEI level trainer and competitor,

USDF Silver and Bronze Medalist

Sue's love of horses began early with a shetland pony named Dusty purchased for $25.

In no time at all, she outgrew him and moved on to full sized horses. Shortly thereafter, she entered the jumping world and started showing throughout the nation as a junior rider.

Working her young adult days as a working student riding training horses and teaching lessons at Whistle Stop School of Horsemanship, she was able to ride lots of different horses and teach all levels of riders. The school there brought in dressage clinicians on a regular basis and that is how she became connected with dressage while having a very successful show jumping and training background. Dressage was ALWAYS considered a necessity for good quality jumping horses.

After graduating from college and working as a CPA, she found Elizabeth (Betty) Tukey to further her dressage training. She attributes her strong sense of dressage basics to Betty's relentless pursuit  that  dressage basics must come first and always look to them when there is a problem. Betty was also her mentor in teaching style. Betty is a great teacher who pushes her students with encouragement, developing confidence, and correct riding principles. Sue has taken this approach in her teaching and you will often hear Sue laughing with her students to keep things fun.
